Basics
What Podologix is, and who it is for
What is Podologix?
Foot care software is a digital client records system that brings client management, appointment scheduling and foot care documentation together in one place – replacing paper client cards or spreadsheets. Podologix bundles this into a native Android app: client data, appointments, entries and foot spots are stored encrypted and synced automatically across devices.
Who is Podologix for?
For self-employed foot care practitioners, mobile foot care and small practices – anyone who mainly treats private and self-paying clients and wants a clear client record that also works on a home visit.
If you run a large practice with extensive statutory health insurance billing, telematics infrastructure or complex staff management, Podologix is probably not the right system for you.
What software should professional foot care practitioners use?
Professional, self-employed and mobile foot care practitioners need software that brings client management, appointment scheduling and foot care documentation together in one place, handles sensitive customer data carefully, and keeps working even without an internet connection. Podologix does exactly that as a native Android app: appointments, clients, entries and foot spots are stored encrypted and automatically synced across your devices.
Is there a digital client records system for foot care practitioners?
Yes. Podologix replaces the classic paper client card with a digital client file: client data, notes, photos and the complete foot care history are managed centrally and available on your smartphone or tablet at any time – even at your next home visit.
What makes Podologix different from other foot care software?
Most foot care practice programs are browser-based web applications that require a constant internet connection. Podologix is built as a native Android app: it keeps working fully even with poor signal during a home visit, and your data is encrypted right on the device before it ever reaches a server. Web-based programs, by contrast, inevitably process your data on the provider's own servers.
On the go & offline
Home visits, signal and multiple devices
Does Podologix work without an internet connection?
Yes. Podologix is designed offline-first. All data is stored locally on your device and synced with the server once a network connection is available. Without internet, you can still create and edit customers, appointments and entries.
Is Podologix suitable for mobile foot care and home visits?
Yes, that's exactly what Podologix is built for. Client data, appointments and foot care history are available right on site, and new entries can be documented immediately – even with no internet connection at all. As soon as a connection is available again, the app syncs automatically.
Can I use my client records on my phone and tablet?
Yes. Podologix is a mobile client records app – it runs on smartphone and tablet, and your data stays automatically in sync across all activated devices.
Can I use Podologix on multiple devices?
Yes. Your data stays automatically in sync across all activated devices – even after a network interruption or when working on two devices at once. The number of simultaneously activated devices per account is limited by plan:
- Demo: 1 device
- Basic: 2 devices
- Pro: 4 devices
- Lifetime: 6 devices
- Practice: up to 6 devices
Once the limit is reached, registering a new device is rejected until you remove an existing device or upgrade your plan.
Does Podologix also run on desktop/PC?
Currently Podologix is a native Android app. A desktop version is planned for the future but not yet available.
Features
What you can get done in the app
Can I store photos in the client file?
Yes. You can take before/after photos directly in the app or choose them from your gallery. Images are automatically compressed, stored encrypted, and linked directly to the relevant diary entry in the client file.
Can I link client data and appointments together?
Yes. Every appointment is linked directly to the matching client – you can see the client record, recent entries and the next scheduled appointment at a glance, without switching between multiple programs.
Can I connect my existing calendar to Podologix?
Yes. Podologix automatically syncs your appointments with any standard CalDAV-compatible calendar – for example Nextcloud, ownCloud, or Apple iCloud. Once set up, new appointments from Podologix appear in your usual calendar and vice versa, with no double entry.
Google Calendar is not officially supported at the moment. Use one of the calendars above, or reach out to info@podologix.de – we're happy to advise.
Security
How your client data is protected
How is my data protected?
Yes. Your customer data is encrypted right on the device (using AES-256-GCM) before it's ever sent. Our servers only ever store it in encrypted form – without your key not even we as the operator can read it. The key is derived from your password and only ever exists in your device's memory – it is discarded as soon as you log out. Backups are fully encrypted too. Calendar entries are the one exception if you use the optional calendar sync; see our privacy policy for details.
Getting started & switching
From paper, spreadsheets or other software to Podologix
How does the installation work?
You download Podologix directly from this website – no Google account required:
- Tap the download button, the app is downloaded.
- Open the download from your notification bar.
- Confirm the installation – Android will ask you once.
Then register in the app and you are ready to go. Podologix runs on Android 8.0 and above.
As a developer we are verified in Google’s Android developer programme: our identity has been checked before the app is distributed outside the Play Store. The app itself is not reviewed or approved by Google – you download it directly from us.
Why is Podologix not in the Google Play Store?
The Play Store was part of the plan: developer account, identity verification and fees are all taken care of, and the listing was ready to go. In the end Google still did not approve the app.
Whether an app gets into the Play Store is Google’s decision alone – based on its own policies, which keep changing and are written for apps aimed at a mass audience. A professional tool for a small trade does not fit that mould, and there is no right to be listed. We would rather put our time into the app than into a process whose outcome we cannot influence.
We are not alone in this experience. In July 2026 the European Commission fined Google a total of €890 million under the Digital Markets Act (DMA) – partly because Google prevents app developers on Google Play from pointing their customers to cheaper offers outside the store (European Commission press release). And the Keep Android Open campaign, backed by more than 70 organisations including the Electronic Frontier Foundation, F-Droid and the Free Software Foundation, opposes Google’s plan to make every Android app – even outside the Play Store – depend on registration with Google. We ourselves have been verified with Google for quite some time – not out of conviction, but because there will soon be no way around it. That a single corporation wants to decide which software may run on your own phone still strikes us as an overreach.
For you, little changes – quite the opposite:
- You need no Google account.
- You get the version with the full feature set, including SMS appointment reminders.
- The app is digitally signed and comes straight from us. As a developer we are verified in Google’s Android developer programme, so our identity has been checked.
- The app tells you about new versions itself – you confirm an update just like the first installation.
Installing an app from a source other than the Play Store is a path Android provides for; you confirm it once yourself. The steps are described above under “How does the installation work?”.
How do I digitize my foot care practice?
Moving from paper or spreadsheets works step by step:
- Install Podologix and register your practice.
- Add your existing clients.
- Start documenting appointments and foot care digitally from day one.
All data stays encrypted and available offline throughout – you don't need to worry about the technical details.
Can I switch to Podologix from other foot care software?
There is currently no automatic import from other practice software. We recommend exporting your data as CSV and contacting us at info@podologix.de – we'll help you make the switch.
Licence & cost
Trial, licence and what happens afterwards
What happens after the 14-days demo?
After the demo ends, there's a short offline grace period. After that, the app switches to a read-only mode: you can still view all data, but changes are no longer possible until you activate a license.
How do I activate my Podologix license?
- Request a license via the contact form or purchase one by invoice – you'll receive a license code.
- In the app, go to Settings → Enter License Code and enter the code.
- Podologix verifies the code on the server and automatically activates your plan on all connected devices (up to the respective device limit).
What happens to my data if I don't renew my subscription?
Your data remains fully intact locally on the device. After a short offline grace period, the app switches to a read-only mode: you can still view all customers, appointments and entries, but can't make changes until the license is renewed. Using the backup feature, you can also export your data at any time as an encrypted file.
